The eleventh and final season of M*A*S*H was never intended to be a full season. Only sixteen episodes were ordered, including the movie-length series finale, which aired in late February. Season Eleven aired from Monday, October 25th, 1982, with the season premiere, until Monday, February 28th, 1983.

Following the conclusion of the series, CBS attempted to broadcast two shows, Alice (a returning show) and Tucker's Witch (a new show) in the timeslot formerly filled by M*A*S*H. However, the shows didn't take and M*A*S*H was plugged back in. The final, regularly scheduled prime-time broadcast of M*A*S*H on CBS took place on Monday, September 19th, when the last episode was rebroadcast (the final episode was shown once more during the summer of 1984).
